This week with TTR: first snow? ❄
Last week's run in Nokogiri

Hi friends,

Hope this new year has been treating you well.

Run-wise, we have all kinds of levels this weekend, from 60km ultras to casual "morning jog and coffee" runs. And also the first snow forecast of the year! 🀞

As you might have noticed, we had to transferred the newsletter to a new system, but so far the change seem to have been for the better. Give us a shout for notes and comments!

[ULTRA] Kumotori and Daibosatsu (max 8 people)

Meet us at Okutama station on Friday at 22:20 for some overnight fun. We will head straight to Kumotori-san along the long and pretty Ishione ridge. Once we reach Tokyo's highest peak, we will be rewarded with no views, as it will still be night time, but we will breath the peace of remoteness and solitude. We will the descend south towards Tabayama village, completing the first half of the course. For those wishing to cut it short, it is possible to escape at this point (you will just need to wait about 3 hours for the first bus to Okutama).

Sunlight will catch up with us as we plod along towards Daibosatsu pass. Once we hit this gorgeous and runnable ridge, we will be able to enjoy fantastic views (should weather cooperate) as we ride along south, facing Fuji-san, bagging a few more peaks along the way, including the Japanese mountain with the longest name (in romaji). We will then descend along a beautiful gorge to end in the Yamato wellness center Sato-no-yu, for a repairing onsen bath together with the septuagenarians of the area.

Depending on the group's pace, we expect to finish between 12:00 and 15:00 on Saturday. Once at Daibosatsu, there are a few escape routes on the ridge, so it is possible to cut your participation short if you wish so.

Warning!
This is an advanced event, as we will cover more than 60 km with more than 5,000 m of elevation gain, at night, in winter. Bring enough warm clothes to be warm even in case of injury. Mandatory gear: light crampons (chain spikes or をむゼン), warm and waterproof clothes, gloves, headlamp with spare battery, at least 1 liter of water and plenty of food.

[INTERMEDIATE] Kagenobu tempura and takigyo β„πŸ€πŸŒŠ

Let's have a sporty local run with great views (weather permitting!) and tasty tempura at the top. The bravest can also end the run into the icy waters of the local meditation waterfall (no worries, warm showers aren't that far off)
The run goes north of Takao station to take the quiet trails along the river. At the feet of Mt. Kagenobu, we will take a steep uphill path to reach the summit, where tempura and oden await.

We will then run down to Kobotoke-shiroyama and down again to road level through a fun little trail that will take us to the local open air meditation waterfall.
After that, we will do our quick return back to Takao station.

[BEGINNERS] Takao morning run and coffee! β„β˜•

Let's enjoy nature with friends with this beautiful, quiet loop south of Takao.

The run goes through wide, safe trails with gradual inclines and is ideal for discovering trail running or for a light training. The only pace requirement is being able to jog (not walk) the distance with breaks.

From Takaosanguchi staton we'll briefly run south and through a forestry road. After reaching the Misawa observation deck, we'll go down to Shiroyama lake and up to the panoramas of Koku shrine.

After a quick coffee break with open views, we'll rejoin the main path and run back to Takaosanguchi
