This week with TTR: 72 micro-seasons of running!

As you can see, it didn't take much to realize our plans!
From the snowy peaks of Hakone and Agano this week, to the rolling winter hills of Miura and Sayama at the end of the month, to our first hanami in March, we can't wait to enjoy nature with you. (At a good pace!)

Let's enjoy the Hakone caldera! We will start in Hakone-Yumoto Station station at 08.00 and end in Hakone-Yumoto Station station around 19.00. This Upper intermediate course is 50km long, with an elevation gain of 3000 m, and is open to 8 participants.
Join us for the classic Hakone loop, which will have snow on the upper ridge. The course we'll take will start with a steep, long climb up to the ridgeline to Myojogatake and Myojingatake, and continue up high to Mt. Kintoki (17km) where we can have lunch in the lovely Chaya.
From there, you can drop down to Sengokuhara if you wish and take a bus (19km). Continuing along the ridge, we'll drop down to the lakeside of Ashinoko (25km) where there is another bus stop if you desire.
For those continuing on, we have 10km of relatively flat lakeside trail which is runnable and beautiful. We'll get to Hakone town at around 37km, where there is a 7-11 and the last bus option.
To complete the loop, we'll climb back up and over Shiroyama and descend back down to Hakone-Yumoto station, with onsen options at the end!
Fitness required: 4 out of 5
Danger level: 2 out of 5
Need to bring:
- Minimum 1L of water, there are long stretches with no services
- Small crampons for snow - chain crampons ideal
- Warm layer including gloves and hat / buff as temps on the ridgeline will be sub-zero
- Headlight, with shorter winter days, there is high chance we'll do 1~2 hours in the dark at the end

🗄 The run starts and ends at the same station, which has lockers you may use and share.
♨ If you wish, you can use a nearby hot spring after the finish.
⚠ To avoid startling hikers on the course, do not run straight through, but stop to greet and pass them. Greet other trail runners as well.
🔦 This is a night run and you will need a headlamp to join. Contact the organizer if needed, he might have one to lend you.
🥛🍬 There will be a break with food and drinks. Please bring a cup and your snacks.

Let's enjoy waterfalls, temples and snow! We will start in Nishi-Agano station at 08.55 and end in Agano station around 14.00. This Pre-intermediate course is 14km long, with an elevation gain of 1000 m, and is open to 30 participants.
Meet us at Nishi-Agano station at 8:55 am. We had snow on mountains last weekend, so you will need crampons and cold weather gear for this run. (Of course snow is never guaranteed).
Highlights will include views from Kanhashyu's peak, perhaps some waterfalls (if the course is judged safe), ancient Takayama Temple, and an option for lunch on top of Kafuri Pass.
Even in snow this is fairly safe, so a good introductory winter run. If everything goes well, some section of the course will be a winter wonderland. Otherwise, a pretty winter run anyway!

Let's enjoy overnight running! We will start in Zushi station at 23.59 and end in Zushi station around 6.30. This Intermediate course is 50km long, with an elevation gain of 1000 m, and is open to 8 participants.
Want to do something stupid on Monday night? Hate the thought of being warm and cozy in your heated apartment? Head out to Zushi and join me for a midnight trail run!!
Start midnight on Monday at Zushi station - run overnight until the sunrise (about 6.5 hours). Course will be a variation on the Sengenyama mile loop course, so will be 2x 25km loops - ideally, we'll be on the East ridge overlooking Yokosuka for sunrise which will be pretty, but I cannot promise this!
This is my training run - don't expect any lovely night festivals, illuminations or such like. We can promise you the joys of a couple of 7-11s and Family Marts, not too much more. If you decide you've had enough in the middle, feel free to get a beef bowl and sleep in a Sukiya until the first train!
Fitness: 3 out of 5
Danger: 2 out of 5 (slight chance of mauling by wild boars)

Let's enjoy a beautiful picnic with fun runs! We will start in Takao station at 09.30 and end in Takao station around 15.00.
The All levels course is 14km long, with an elevation gain of 700 m, and is open to 30 participants, with an additional 10km +700m loop available to those interested.
For the initial 7 km climb we will split in multiple groups, from fast runners to hikers and families.
After reaching Mt. Kagenobu and setting up our big tarp, we will enjoy a picnic together (please bring your favorite foods and drinks!)
Finally, we have planned a 10km loop around the mountain to be enjoyed as a group run or a relay race, depending on interest.
