This week with TTR: Tor de Brian!
Hi friends,
We cannot start this week's news without mentioning our friend Brian "makimichi" Caster completed the titanic TOR330 in Italy (around the Aosta valley): 330 km and a whopping 24,000 m of elevation gain, with many peaks and mountains passes above 3,000 m! He came in 42nd, with a total time of 102:03. Beast! 😄
Things in Tokyo are much more mundane, with lingering summer heat making it hard to organize intense daytime runs.
Therefore, this weekend features two fresh plans, with a cool night-run in Takao on Saturday and a classic waterfall route in Nishiagano on Sunday, featuring the trimphant return of Yoshimasa "Cowboy" Suzuki!

This elementary level run will take us to 3 small waterfalls that you can cool down in, plus a river pool bath near the finish. The first half of this course will be familiar to TTR veterans. These are small waterfalls but great for a cool summer vibe. The course also takes in Takayama Temple and the high point of Kanhashumiharudai at 771 meters. We will then return to Nishi Agano Station, which is the start and finish.
Finish time will be as late as 2 pm, so some runners might consider bringing a light lunch. It is also possible to leave a bag with dry clothes in the lockers at Nishi Agano Station. There are no services at all at Nishi Agano, except drink machines and restrooms!
Consider getting wet frequently, and changing clothes again at the station before getting on the train home.
Runners who would like to extend this run will have some options to do so!
