This week with TTR: Community!

Hi friends,

"Community" is a a really overused word isn't it? Put three people online and they'll call themselves a community. But how else would you describe last Saturday?

Up in Saitama, Brian lapped the Hanno 105 course for the seventh time while a little squad of TTR veterans (Angela, Chisato, Derin, Hajime and Kino) coordinated to pace him, motivate him and bring him snacks through his 24-hours ordeal.

Meanwhile, a troop of 20 runners ran across the gentle hills around Akabokko. Some for the first time, some for the umpteenth in a row, some returning to TTR (and Japan!) after years of absence. One even casually mentioned they'll get married this week!

And we've just begun, of course. This weekend we'll have another big group through the climbs and leaves of Ogi and Momokura. And for December we already have three events lined up, some sportier and some... more seasonal!

From the simplest of acquientances to the closest of friends, thank you for crossing our paths and for running on our side. You make this special. Don't think, run!

Max 20 runners. Ogi and Momokura are the two large mountains between Jimba and Daibosatsu, and they are an interesting day run in themselves. A bit more vertical than Takao-Jimba, with superb views of Mt. Fuji, should the weather cooperate. This is an excellent Autumn run. Hopefully the maples are still red (no guarantees)

Start is at Torisawa Station, but finish is the next station down the line, Saruhashi. So pack everything you need.

There are no services, so bring lunch and enough water to finish. Most runners beyond elementary level are OK, though the two climbs are hard work (cumulative elevation gain is about 1,100-1,200m) and not suitable for beginning runners. Total distance is 15-16K or so, but it may feel a bit longer due to the two climbs.

Honestly the finish is a bit sad. There is a 7/11, but no onsen or other sites.....unless you like old abandoned buildings. There are onsen and restaurant options some stations down the line in Fujino.

Bring a headlamp, although we will try to keep the pace high to keep night running as short as possible.

ヘッドランプを持参でください。ただし、夜間走りをできるだけ短くするため、ハイペースを保つようにする。

🥛🍬 There will be a break with food and drinks. Please bring a cup and your snacks.
